Course info
Several members of staff have primary research interests in domestic British history from the seventeenth century onwards: Professor John Beckett, Dr. Harry Cocks, Dr Julia Merritt, Dr. David Appleby, Dr Richard Gaunt and Professor Chris Wrigley. Important holdings of secondary works in the Hallward Library relate to modern English parliamentary history and the French Revolutionary period. The Library also houses important manuscript collections from the medieval period onwards. Among collections of records of national importance are papers of the Manvers, Mellish, Middleton, Newcastle and Portland families. For church history, there is an extensive collection of archdeaconry records since the Reformation.
